Summer is Finally Here!

Wow! Never thought we would finally arrive here... SUMMER! Kids are out of school which means I go into full Nana mode and babysit Julia while Heather works. Tye comes and goes between friends, the skate park and football practice for high school next year.

It seems like we went from rain to 90 degrees in just a couple of days which is actually just what happened but I am so glad we are finally here and ready for some fun and relaxing summ
er days.

I am now 3 weeks and 2 days a non-smoker... of course I have gained 6 pounds in this time but the weight can be lost so I trudge on :-)

I am planning on doing a lot of scrapping this summer also during the hot times of the day. Above is one that I recently did of my niece Paige.

Tyler graduated from 8th grade and is now going to be in high school. We are very proud of him but this sure makes me feel old lol!

Cute

I am still scrapbooking and have now done 21 layouts this year. I believe that is more than I did all last year! I am so glad the bug bit me again! I have really gotten into using paper doilies on my layouts lately. I love that I can chalk them or spritz them with glimmer and get a whole new look out of them.

TuTu and Tea Party

Even with remodeling and all that we have going on I am still working very hard to find some time to scrap. This layout is of Julia's 6th birthday party which was all about TuTu's and Tea time. The cute flower at the bottom I found at Michaels in the dollar bin they have a lot of different colored flowers there. The bling was also from the dollar bin. I love looking through those bins!

I have had this layout rolling around in my head for a few days now but didn't want to attempt it was afraid it wouldn't turn out as cute as I had in my head. I love it!

Nieces Serenity and Faith. This is my first attempt at making flowers with wet crumpling technique. I enjoyed it and used glimmer mist instead of water to crumple them with. I am finding that my ideas of what I like to use to scrapbook with have changed a lot so I am scouring stores to update my already bulging supplies! Good thing grand daughter Julia likes to scrapbook she is going to inherit some goodies!

I am venturing out to trying new things such as sewing on my layouts. Not a huge amount here but I did get the feel of it and really liked it so I am sure I will be doing it much more in my future layouts. These are my nieces Hailey and Paige.

My first layout of 2011. Julia at her tutu birthday party. I am trying to add more depth to my layouts this year and become more artistic. It is going to take a lot of practice but it will be fun!

2011

Am I ever looking forward to this year. No more problems and only fun family time ahead (hopefully) lol. I am also going to scrap more this year. I did do quite a bit last year which I am pretty proud of and have my scrap room organized and it even stays that way after I scrap which is not a small task as any true blue scrapper knows! I am going to continue on making the most of my life and enjoying it as I have this past year with my friends and also cherish the time I have with my grandkids as they are growing older and with Tyler hitting his teen years I am dreading for the time when his nana is low on the totem pole below girls and other things lol... so far I have held steady even with girls coming and going :-) Julia is 6 and such a fun little girl although still can be a handful when she is bored! She is scrapbooking now and actually takes great care in where each item goes on her layout so I am hoping that since she started so early she will continue on and let it be something that in years from now will give her warm memories of her nana.

Next month Ron and I will be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. What a journey we have had so far growing up together lol! We married at 18 so we have been through almost every phrase of our life (we met in grade school) together. I find that to be one of the biggest accomplishments that I can be proud of!

Our kids are doing wonderfully and I feel blessed everyday to have them and every single day is a blessing with both of my parents and my 88 year old grandma who was and still is my second mom. One thing you learn as you grow older is that everyday you should Thank God for another day with your family and I do!
